Lidaysis Hernandez
Hi everyone, my name is Liddy. I am the Assistant Director/Chief of Staff on the Board Relations team at the Natural Resource Defense Council and I am very excited to get to know everyone.
I have had the privilege of having a handful of chief of staff type roles in my career which have all granted me years of experience in administrative and relationship management, synthesizing and coordinating information flow and a proven track record in building and leading high-performing projects and teams. I also have extensive experience with organizing events from a 500 person women's economic conference, a grammy showcase, annual board meetings, DEI trainings and workshops, to intimate private dinners, book launches, and fundraising galas and auctions. In particular, I’m very passionate about the operational and logistical process that goes on behind the scenes. I am truly the representation of the puppeteer watching and controlling from behind. Outside of work, I am a new mother to a sweet and curious baby girl, who has taught me to enjoy everyday of life that much more since her arrival. Some fun facts about me - I have a passion for cooking and if money was no issue I would open amazing restaurants around the world to showcase my Cuban culture! Also, a second not so fun fact about me is that I am deadly afraid of birds - or anything with feathers. They truly disgust me so if you spot me walking around the streets of Manhattan stomping on the ground just know I am not weird, I am just scaring the pigeons away!
Lastly, I joined the community to get to know like-minded individuals and to learn from your experiences and diverse outlooks. I hope to be able to add my grain of salt to this amazing group and will also seek to be as helpful as I can in the process.
Pro Tip
Trust and collaboration is key. Work hard to identify a group of peers at work who you trust implicitly and who you know will answer your call to arms whenever necessary. Often being the COS can be a lonely position in the hierarchy of an organization due to the nature of the work you do and information you are privileged to so finding a group of peers with whom you can collaborate and in whom you trust is pivotal to your own success.
Asks
Support and insight from a group of likeminded individuals who can share their invaluable experiences and provide assistance in a time of need, confusion, or doubt.
